Rinder- und Straußenhof Marten

We, the Marten cattle and ostrich farm, are a family farm with a focus on milk production. You can find us in Hardebek, near Neumünster, in Schleswig-Holstein. But since you can't stand on one leg, we started keeping ostriches on our farm in 2000. Six breeding animals were the beginning, today we have 40 ostriches. In April the breeding animals start laying eggs, so that we have the first chicks in June. We then raise the ostrich chicks on our farm until they are marketed. In the summer, the young ostriches are kept on our grassland behind the farm. Our ostrich meat is an exclusive top product. In addition to numerous proteins and iron, it contains little fat and is meat with the lowest cholesterol, yet it remains incomparably tender. The animals are slaughtered at a nearby butcher, where the following products are made from their meat: ostrich fillet, ostrich steak, roast, goulash, bratwurst.
